Scent-Sational Travel: Staying Healthy with Essential Oils
Travel can be wonderful, especially if you are well prepared. You have your tickets, you’re ready to go.
But what if you got an unexpected illness like “Montezuma’s Revenge” or a flu of some sort?
Almost anything can happen when you travel and you don’t always have control over it…or do you?
I prefer to use natural remedies when I don’t feel well. I don’t like to pop pills to cure my illnesses and I definitely don’t trust the FDA. There are so many drugs on the market today and you know the pharmaceutical companies are making millions off of our health problems. (Don’t get me started!)
Anyway….I’ve asked my friend Rebecca Nenner, The Health Coach Diva, to educate us about essential oils and how we can use them to keep us healthy while we travel.
Rebecca, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me and my readers. Tell us a little bit about how you learned about essential oils.
I have known the amazing health benefits of essential oils for several years. I first found out how therapeutic they were when I worked with a healer to get rid of a tick born illness. It was so profound that I decided to get some essential oils to share with the clients that I coach.
Before I knew it, I started to share them with my family, friends, and whoever else wanted to learn more about them. They couldn’t believe how the oils would resolve their health issues!
What are essential oils?
Essential oils seem to be a mystery to many people. They smell great, but it’s really not about the wonderful scents, it’s about how synergistically they work with your body.
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They are the “immune system” of the plants that keep threats away from them.
How do essential oils work?
They work at the cellular level and protect the cells of the plants and of people. Unlike pills, essential oils enter every cell of your body within 30 seconds!
They are able to penetrate the membranes of our cells and are 50-70 times more powerful than herbs!
Essential oils can be used in several ways:
- Topically on your feet or wherever you are having some sort of discomfort
- Aromatically by either smelling or diffusing them
- Internally by ingesting some of the oils (but you must make sure they are of the highest purity in order to do that)
I see essential oils in various stores. How do you know which ones are good quality?
Yes! First, you must know that all essential oils are NOT created equal. The company that I work with has the purest and most effective oils on the planet. They’ve even had to create a standard for the oils that they produce which is CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade). Each and every batch goes through 3rd party independent testing to make sure that every oil is clean, has no pesticide residue, and is totally safe and effective to use internally and externally.
If you were to go to a Big Box store or even your local “organic” market, you are likely to get oils that are cheaper and do not have the therapeutic effects that the oils have from the company that I work with. In fact, many of them use synthetic scents (like perfume) and they do nothing more than smell nice.
So don’t be fooled. You must find a reputable company that goes the extra step to make sure that your oils are grown in their indigenous regions, and are reliable and clean.
What’s more, they work! In fact, not only do I use them, but my family does too! I have a son who travels the world for his business and he takes them everywhere he goes. This provides great peace of mind for both him and me!
Is there any issue with essential oils passing through the airport security checkpoint?
No, you are allowed to take your essential oils wherever you travel! TSA allows people to bring their oils, no matter how many you have.
What are the benefits of using essential oils vs. medications?
Aside from being all natural? There are many benefits!
When it comes to travel, essential oils are much better than medications. Should something come up during your vacation, you wouldn’t have to call for a doctor or go to a pharmacy to get medication.
There are several illnesses and medical situations that frequently occur during travel. Can essential oils be used to treat them?
Essential oils can treat a variety of illnesses, including ones that are typically associated with travel.
There are oils that will help you with stomach discomfort, occasional head tension, getting too much sun exposure, occasional respiratory distress, you name it.
It is so comforting to know that these beautiful oils are a gift from the Earth and that we are meant to use them. They have been used for thousands of years and have no side effects. They are the natural solutions for your health and your peace of mind, wherever you are and wherever you go! Now that’s a scent-sational way to travel!
