Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse (Review)
There’s nothing I like more than being near the water. It doesn’t matter if it’s a river, bay, or ocean; I find it peaceful and relaxing. I also enjoy good food, drinks, and music.
Put them together and you get Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse near Woodbridge in Dumfries, Virginia.
Set back a few miles from Route 1, Tim’s Rivershore offers good food, delicious drinks, and live music on weekends (weather permitting).
Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went in the afternoon since the weather was mild and just a bit overcast with a nice, cool breeze. We weren’t the only people who wanted to unwind and dine by the water, though. When we got there, business was booming!
We prefer eating outside, whenever possible, and since it was busy, we had to wait a bit so we ordered drinks at the Tiki Bar and soaked in the atmosphere.
Tim’s offers several dining options: at and around the Tiki Bar, on one of the patios on either side of the Tiki Bar, inside the restaurant, or on the beach area.
On weekends during the Spring and Summer, the restaurant features live music, which can be heard from all of the dining areas. The bands that I’ve seen at Tim’s have been great and have played classic rock, alternative and several other genres of music. They play on the dock under the cover of a roof, allowing for live music even if there is light rain.
Tim’s menu offers a variety of seafood and non-seafood appetizers, sandwiches, soups, entrees, desserts. My favorites so far include the rockfish sandwich (yum!!), crab salad wrap, and steamed spice shrimp.
Although I haven’t had them yet, the wait staff and other diners have recommended the crabs (when they are in available and in season), crab dip, and crab legs. A variety of non-alcoholic drinks and adult beverages are available as well.
While we were eating, we ended up talking to a group at the next table – a mother, her two 20-something daughters and their boyfriends. They were eating, drinking and having a great time. We had so much fun talking to them that they invited us to join them for a corn hole competition. Did we agree to play them? Hell yes! After we paid our bill, we headed over to the beach area of Tim’s and the competition began.
In addition to corn hole, there are plenty of things for adults and children to do at Tim’s, so there’s no need to leave the family at home (unless you want an adults-only outing). When I’ve been to Tim’s, I’ve seen kids having a blast splashing in the water and playing in the sand. There are seashells along the beach, too, which are fun for kids to examine and gather.
The beach area also has several tables and chairs as well as some comfy Adirondack chairs around the fire pit.
(The photos above were taken on a weekday when it wasn’t very busy. Weekends are hopping!)
If you’ve been looking for a fun place to enjoy food and drinks along the water, check out Tim’s. I’m sure you’ll go back again and again like I do!
